The Untame Storyboard Exhibition is a raw visual display of the inspiration behind UNTAME Magazine Issue 1, a men’s lifestyle guide that launched September 2014.
Founded in November 2013 by Wendi Marissa and Alessandra De Benedetti, UNTAME pulls elements of zine culture together with fine art photography and editorial content, giving readers a new experience through visual storytelling in a 9×12 perfect-bound format. UNTAME redefines sexy from the perspective of its commanding female proprietors, while providing the visceral nostalgia of a classic men’s stag magazine.
From June 21-July 1st, UNTAME lived in Wallplay’s street level concept space in the form of a giant storyboard. Along with ephemera and merchandise, many of the pieces hanging are unframed in their original form.
The UNTAME “Wall of Butts” highlights a collection of assets found online. Pictures taken in front of the wall and hashtagged #wallplay and #untame will appear on Wallplay’s live feed. Wallplay’s concept counter, (blank), serving Intelligentsia coffee will feature branded UNTAME cups and UNTAME merchandise.
Participating Artists: Brendan Donnelly, Tim Hendricks, Sterling Bartlett, Dave Naz, Adam Warmerdam, Dan Monick, Darian Zahedi, Alexander Heir, Laira Miret, Eoghan Barry, Robert Lotzko, Mike Martinez, Robert Johanssen, Matt Minter and Scott R Miller. All contributors to the exhibition are featured in UNTAME Magazine Issue 1.
Proceeds from merchandise and art help source the funding of Issue 1, for which a crowdfunding campaign has been created.
